hail to the thief

there was a storm here last week and it was so cold that hail started to fall with the rain! it fell for a good 10 minutes or so. first time i ever saw hail in my life. i've seen and held snow but not hail. it's pretty interesting because i thought it would be hard when it hit you, but it didn't hurt so bad, it's just a little suprising. but yeah, i bet it's more fun throwing hail balls than snow balls! hehe

this first pic is the hail that collected on our doorstep, not that much though, but enough to be seen. it actually looks like little shards of glass to me...

this next one was the hail collecting on my mom's planter. looks a lot better here because of the contrast.

this last one was the hail falling from the sky, not that visible but if you look closely, you probably can see it

one of the best love stories

i wanted to write first about my thoughts on the film hero but i decided this was more important to me than the film as a whole... the love story between broken sword and flying snow at times even took my concentration away from the focus of the film, which was the planned assasination of the emperor of Qin. the scenes speak for themselves, obviously, but it is a must for me to mention the tragedy behind this story. we always fall for those romantic comedies. why? because God knows, whatever it is that goes between boy and girl (something i learned in class), it will always be a happy ending, whether they get back together 10 minutes or 10 seconds before the film's end. and honestly, aside from titanic, what other film can you remember wherein the lovers ended in tragedy? i mean, in titanic, only one person died, in hero, it's twice the drama and the sadness, not even considering the fact that they died because of each other, literally. it reminded me of romeo and juliet, only a lot better. sure, you could easily see the immaturity between the two, but broken sword and flying snow brought a lot more than romeo and juliet ever did... i don't know if anyone else noticed it, but not once did broken sword and flying snow ever kiss in the film. and let's face it, it's always those moments when the couples kiss that usually begins the trickle of a tear in our eye... and yet, this movie made me cry more than any "commercial" romantic movie i've ever seen (and i've seen a lot)... their love story was a perfect example of love being more than words. those glances between them, the little smiles and frowns, all you needed to do was see it, and not only did you understand it, but you felt it too... goes to show you that love isn't about what people can see, it's what they don't. love isn't perfect, and you'll never have the perfect love, but loving someone, the one... i can't even express it in words. my favorite scene between these two characters was during the "blue" part of the film, wherein we see both of them walking down a hall pushing aside wooden curtains and ending with them lying side by side in bed, hands held together tightly... that's an image and a feeling i won't soon forget.

of rain and ex's

it rained today.

why is that worth mentioning here?

aside from the fact that i'm in a writing mood today, which isn't very often, i haven't felt rain in 1 1/2 YEARS... yes, years.

it barely even rains here! i've always liked the rain. except for when i'm all dressed or i'm wearing suede shoes. other than that, i love it. i was in college when i last played in the rain. there's just something innocent and refreshing about it, like you come out of it a new person.

you don't know what you've got 'till it's gone.

that includes the rain, and ex's.

i need help, i'm getting addicted to this...

now this is another good one... i've got the shirt like this (not the vintage one, unfortunately, just the still-licensed-but-i-wish-i-had-the-older-ones from JC Penny) but this patch is the real thing! it was actually bought at the back in black tour 25 years ago. of course, i have no way of actually verifying that but hey, everyone seems to beleive me when i tell them ;)

how much cooler can this get? well, a lot more actually... i wanted the old style metallica logo, but then, this was cheaper (hehe) and it was officially licensed. not like i really care if it's a fake one, so long as it looks exactly like the original, and i must say, there's lots of really bad fakes over here. filipino fakes were a lot lot better... anyway, this is from the load album, the modern metallica logo

no surprise as to why i got this... it's over 20 years old, man. and it looks really good.

support the lance armstrong foundation

i first heard about this from my former teamate and my initial reaction was, "this is going to be another WWJD thing..." (remember those?) which was nothing more than a passing fancy in fashion, though i support the message behind the bracelet (and yes, i do have one, but don't wear it, it seems too small for my wrist)... this livestrong bracelet carries an important message too, especially for cancer-stricken patients. it was made popular by six-time Tour de France winner, himself a miracle survivor of testicular cancer (which, i might add, is becoming an eye-opener everywhere, even my doctor wants me checked for it. i guess what breast cancer is to women, testicular cancer is to men). it's a simple yet bold statement, and it's made of silicone rubber, which means you can play (and sweat) in it, as well as take a shower with (assuming you do take a shower)... it's a worthy cause, plus it's only $1 a piece, a far cry from the $20+ AIDS bracelet. it's like my sister said, if you really want to make a lot of money for charity, make the item cheap and sell a lot, rather than making it super expensive and just hoping for a few hits here and there. i won't be surprised if the livestrong bracelet generates more funding than the AIDS bracelet... anyway, go out and buy one! (they said you can get it in any nike store, but i don't really know any nike stores near my place) or get one online at  www.laf.org

other stuff i won...

it's supposedly a rare patch (why? i have no idea) it's a badass logo, i've seen shirts like this...

classic aerosmith wings logo...

i like jane's addiction, but not THIS much... don't know why i bought this... i'm getting addicted! i think it was cheap at first, but then someone else started bidding and i surely wasn't going to lose!

well hey, i couldn't get the whole band, so i'm starting with the lead singer hehe

this is the most awesome patch i've ever seen... it's a farewell tour patch and obviously it has a flaw but who cares?

this looked like a cheap fake to me, but i found out it's actually licensed. and there were two people selling the same thing and i got the cheaper one! it's a beautiful piece

last but definitely not the least... it speaks for itself

choose life... but why would i want to do a thing like that?

Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family, Choose a fucking big television, Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players, and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol and dental insurance. Choose fixed-interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisure wear and matching luggage. Choose a three piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing you last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked-up brats you have spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life.

But why would I want to do a thing like that?

So why did I do it? I could offer a million answers, all false. The truth is that I'm a bad person, but that's going to change, I'm going to change. This is the last of this sort of thing. I'm cleaning up and I'm moving on, going straight and choosing life. I'm looking forward to it already. I'm going to be just like you: the job, the family, the fucking big television, the washing machine, the car, the compact disc and electrical tin opener, good health, low cholesterol, dental insurance, mortgage, starter home, leisurewear, luggage, three-piece suite, DIY, game shows, junk food, children, walks in the park, nine to five, good at golf, washing the car, choice of sweaters, family Christmas, indexed pension, tax exemption, clearing the gutters, getting by, looking ahead, to the day you die.

it's good being me...

I WON!

the classic rolling stones tounge of kali! people actually thought it was andy warhol who designed it, since he was good friends with the band, but it was really mick jagger who was responsible...

don't think it's licensed, but who cares! it's one of the best patches i've ever seen...

yeah, this one's cool too! but does anyone know what flag that is between bob's face and the jamaican flag? seems weird, but it's cool either way.

first thing i ever bid on! damn, this is the best thing i've ever seen! it's a vintage patch from the 70s, man... wish i was born during that era...

i got all these from ebay, it's not as complicated as it seems, really... and guess what? you don't need a credit card to buy these! i don't have one and i got them, man. well, won them, haven't received it yet... anyway, if anyone has questions about ebay, i'd be glad to help!
